At JCPRO Academy, we believe that sports and activity are integral factors in a child’s development. We believe all children should have access to it.
We follow The Long-Term Athlete Development model, which is a multi-staged framework designed by Sport Canada, that promotes life-long engagement in sport and activity. The LTAD is split into 7 different stages and progresses from a broad sporting/activity experience into a more narrow scope.
We focus on helping our young children develop fundamental sports skills and abilities such as running, jumping, and throwing. In addition, they are also able to improve their speed, agility, and balance, which are related sports skills that will serve them well in track and field as well as in other sports.
We believe that children who do not develop their fundamental motor skills by age 12 are unlikely to reach their genetic athletic potential.
JCPRO focuses on the first 4 stages of LTAD.
Stage 1: Active Start Stage
We make play and physical activity fun and exciting for our students up to age 6. We don’t introduce any structured coaching at this stage, rather we focus on proper basic fundamental skills such as running, jumping, twisting, kicking, throwing, and catching
Stage 2: Fundamental Stage
At this stage, we begin teaching agility, balance, coordination, and speed to our children. We also continue to instill the importance of daily play and physical activity among the children.
During this stage, children are encouraged to participate in several sports, and multiskilled activities, and play team games to enhance decision-making.
An introduction to simple rules involving safety and etiquette begins during this time.
Stage 3: Learning To Train Stage
In this stage, the focus is on students between 9 to 12 years. We begin to help students integrate physical, mental, cognitive, and emotional components within a well-structured program. The focus on agility, balance, coordination, and speed continues in this stage too.
Due to growth, gender differences become more apparent during this stage. We focus on physical literacy through which awareness of individual physical changes is created among students.
Speed development we focus on agility, quickness, and segmental speed in a multidirectional manner with movements lasting less than 5 seconds.
The introduction of the ancillary capacities (warm up, cool down, mobility, nutrition, and mental skills) for successful performance begins during this Stage.
Stage 4: Training To Train Stage
Students between 12 to 15 years old who wish to take up specialization in a specific sport are put under this stage. Along with specific sports skill coaching, we also focus on strengthening their endurance, strength, and speed. Formal weight training is introduced during this stage. Students are introduced to formal competitions during this stage. We also help students understand the physics behind the sport, nutrition, and its importance.
At JC Pro Academy, we are proud to offer a holistic education that goes beyond textbooks and exams. To know more about our Athleticism program visit JCPRO ACADEMY School at Rajankunte, Yelahanka, Bangalore.
